Festival Flor Más Bella of Ejido 2017 in Xochimilco begins today
This Sunday begins the Festival Flor Más Bella of Ejido 2017 in Xochimilco, delegation of Mexico City, which includes cultural, recreational, gastronomic and sports activities for the whole family.
Xochimilco will show its cultural and natural richness until April 9 in its Historic Center.
The festival seeks to highlight the beauty of the mestizo woman originating from the area, one of which will be named Ms. Flor Más Bella of Ejido 2017. Of the 44 participants, only one will be able to carry the title for the next year as the cultural ambassador in charge of preserving the culture.
In addition, the contest Florecita de la Chinampa will be held on Tuesday April 4, while the Capullo de Primavera will be held on Wednesday 5, both contests serve as seedlings of the new generations aspiring to be future Ms. Flor Más Bella of Ejido.
The purpose of both events is to instill in Xochimilca girls respect for the traditions, customs, history and culture of the delegation.
In addition, restaurateurs affiliated with the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Food Industry (Canirac), will participate in the Gastronomic Show to be held on Tuesday, April 4 at the Zacapa Garden, where traditional flavors from the local gastronomy will be available.
As part of the activities will be the competition of acalli, traditional sport in the canoes.
Attendees will also be able to attend the exhibitions: floral, horticultural, traditional products such as amaranth, honey, crystallized sweets and nieve, among others.
Meanwhile, the Expo Ganadera brings together farmers and livestock producers who exhibit their best examples of sheep, cattle, horses and pigs; with free entrance, will be located next to the ferry Fernando Celada.
Ecuador, the guest country of honor this year, will have an area within the commercial pavilion where they will showcase the work of their artisans and their gastronomy.
On Monday, April 3, at 4:00 p.m., Ecuador’s ambassador to Mexico, Leonardo Arízaga Schmegel and delegational authorities will cut the inaugural ribbon of the event: “The Thread of Our History”, where through exhibitions and fashion shows, will show embroidery and textiles and clothing from both regions.
