Landscapers and gardening experts who will participate in the first Festival of Flowers and Gardens (FYJA) 2017, at the end of April, continue to surprise the people of Mexico City with their crafts.

After the traditional Piñatas, the Giant Ants, and the “Döni” Carpet and the Floral Cover, this time the capital and visitors will be able to appreciate the beauty of 72 floral arches installed in Avenida Paseo de la Reforma.

These arches, which will give way to FYJA 2017, were made with blacksmithing, forged with the ingenuity and talent of the craftsman Pedro Ruiz.

Each metal structure, three meters high and 3.80 meters wide, is dressed in petunias flowers, which embellish the central ridge of Avenida Paseo de la Reforma, from Avenida Grutas to Circuito Gandhi.

The 2,448 pots of petunias, used in the project were planted more than four months ago in greenhouses of the Xochimilco delegation. Visitors can view the arches and take a photo until May 10.

This exhibit is in addition to others that have been launched prior to the first FYJA 2017, whose objective will be to celebrate the floral tradition of Mexico.

Jaime Slomianski Aguilar, head of the Urban Management Agency of Mexico City (AGU CDMX), said that given the urban dynamics of the metropolis, the local government will support citizen initiatives that strengthen the sense of belonging and pride in one of the most important cities in the world.

He invited citizens and tourists to attend this festival, which will be established as a world benchmark which will be held at the Chapultepec Forest Botanical Garden from April 28-30.
