The Gran Festival of Children in CDMX
The “Gran Festival of Children in CDMX” will be hosted by the Government of Mexico City, through the Secretariat of Social Development (SEDESO), on April 23 in the Zocalo from 09:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Various agencies and institutions that will carry out entertainment and learning activities for the kids.
The celebration, which is part of the Día de los Niños celebrations, will allow children to have fun and at the same time to learn about the environment, health, culture, education, tourism, traditional medicine, science and technology, urban services, sports, human rights, healthy eating, addiction prevention, disabilities, among other topics.
The festival, coordinated by SEDESO, together with Re-createte, Pineda Covalin, ETC Media Group, the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM) and Arte Down Mexico Foundation, aims to educate children, as well as provide values and principles to have a better quality of life.
The local Public Security Secretariat (SSP-CDMX) will participate with a circuit of road education and games of abseiling, tirolesa, globoflexia and origami, among other activities; While the Ministry of the Environment (SEDEMA) will teach about urban gardens and will install a didactic tent with games associated with 4×4 bicycle and traffic movements.
The Ministry of Health (SEDESA) will install a medical care module and an ambulance. The Secretariat for Labor and Employment Promotion (STyFE) will talk about the rights of children and adolescents, and why child labor is prohibited.
The secretariats of Culture and Education (SEDU) will organize artistic, music, theater, dance and art activities; The Ministry of Rural Development and Equity for Communities (SEDEREC) will teach about medicinal plants, the use of temazcal and to make figures out of clay and leaves.
The System for the Integral Development of the Local Family (DIF-CDMX) will show how to stimulate children’s talent and offer workshops on human rights. The Institute of Youth of Mexico City (INJUVE CDMX) will be in charge of the topic of youth inclusion and sports; The Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation (SECITI) will offer workshops on science and install a planetarium.
UAM will have modules for play activities and teach about healthy eating. The National Chamber of the Bakery Industry (Canainpa) will offer a children’s baker workshop. The Ministry of Mobility (SEMOVI) will install a motorcycle radar and talk about traffic issues. Steel Wings will perform Motorcycle Stunts.
The Institute for the Integration to the Development to the Persons with Disabilities (INDEPEDI) will arrange soccer and basketball courts and will organize dances with people with Down Syndrome; The Heroic Fire Corps will install a fire truck.
The Contraloría General (CGCDMX), the Institute for Care and Prevention of Addictions (IAPA), the Private Assistance Board, the Sports Institute (INDEPORTE), the National Water Commission (Conagua) and Grupo Fila Dixon and Vinci will contribute services, equipment and games.
Re-createte will carry out workshops related to urban gardens, compost and vermilion, planting of pots, bamboo constructions, workshops on management of emotions, values, self-esteem, health and nutrition, art and culture, and scientific experiments.
The festival will be attended by traditional clowns, balloons and toys.
