For 12 continuous hours, circus art directors from Mexico and other countries, will meet in Mexico City on April 22, to celebrate World Circus Day.

The event will start at 10:00 a.m. and conclude at 10:00 p.m., during which more than 50 completely free recreational activities will take place for the public, such as workshops, competitions and circus acts.

The celebration will take place at Periferico Oriente, between Avenida Social Revolution and Rafael Martínez Street, in the colony Constitución de 1917.

The area will be fenced off for visitors’ safety, various stages and tents will be installed where the public of all ages are invited to participate in each of the workshops, where circus professionals will showcase acrobatics, juggling, stilts, hula hoop and diabolo for beginners.

With the support of Mexican and foreign artists from various companies, the festival aims to provide public entertainment for World Circus Day, “while appreciating the historical and cultural value of the circus as a discipline of the imagination,” said a statement from organizers.

Citizens can enjoy, free of charge, functions, animations and demonstrations of circus art by acrobats, clowns, jugglers and jugglers.

Presentations will also be made of classical and contemporary circus acts, where the “Circolimpiadas” will be held, a series of competitions that test participants’ ability in resistance, dexterity and balance.

In order to avoid traffic, it’s recommended that visitors use the Mexico City Metro, whose nearest station is the Constitución de 1917, on line 8.

It’s important to note that the use of animals in circus shows is prohibited in Mexico.
